Hej,

Tänkte kolla om någon mer varit med om samma spännande fenomen som jag med Netgears WG311T-kort, baserat på Atheros AR5001X-krets.

Kanske bäst att börja med bakgrunden, två kort av ovanstående typ inköptes runt årsskiftet 04/05 för att kunna köra ett trådlöst nätverk, det ena började sin karriär i en windows-xp-burk men har övergått till den något ädlare uppgiften att förse webservern (med slack 11.0) med Internetanslutning, det har fungerat bra med de gamla madwifi-modulerna (före ng) och aldrig krånglat.

Det andra började i min gamla burk, och fungerat från slack 10.2-12.0, i freebsd 6.3 och windows 2000, senare fick det gå över till windowsburken som det första satt i.

Häromveckan var det dock dags för mig att införskaffa en ny stationär dator, och tänkte att det är väl lika bra att fixa ett nytt kort till windowsburken, så man själv kan få ett som man vet fungerar.

Nu för tiden fanns tydligen en modul för kortet med som standard i kärnan (ath5k), denna fick dock datorn att stanna vid laddning, så det fick bli till att blacklista den och försöka med madwifi, först Alien Bobs förbyggda paket på http://www.slackware.com/~alien/slackbu ... /pkg/12.2/, men det gav samma resultat som ath5k, så fick ta ner senaste snapshoten från madwifi-project.org och kompilera själv, men resultatet var fortfarande detsamma.

Som sista utväg försökte jag med ndiswrapper och medföljande xp-drivrutiner, gissa resultatet... Datorn stannade direkt igen.

Jag tycker det känns som någon slags hårdvarukonflikt som får datorn att stanna så fort man aktiverar kortet, vet inte om nå'n som är mer kunnig känner igen det här fenomenet kanske?

Kortet sitter på ett DFI Blood-Iron P35-T2RL-moderkort med en C2Q Q8200, i övrigt finns ett nvidia gf9800gtx+, en wd sata2-disk, och en dvd-brännare i datorn, så det är inte så mkt. annat...

Någon som känner igen detta?

Du skulle inte kunna posta pci-id på kortet och kanske ävan vad 'lspci -k' säger om det kortet?
När stannar det under uppstarten och får du något felmeddelande?
Om du svartlistar båda modulerna startar den upp som den ska då? (isåfall kör en 'dmesg -c' och montera vald modul och se om du kan få igång det och posta utdatan från dmesg här)

Jodå, pci-id är 168C:0013, och lspci -k säger följande:

Den bara stannar under uppstarten utan att ge felmeddelande, precis när den försöker ladda "ath5k_pci", och med madwifi-modulen stannar den istället vid laddningen av "ath_pci", vilket i det fallet är precis efter "ath_hal" laddats.
Man ser alltså texten för att modulen laddats, och att markören hoppat till nästa rad, där den slutar blinka, och allt stannar..

Den startar upp med båda modulerna svartlistade, så jag testar..

Jag har ett med samma pci:id 168c:0013 (rev 01)
Fast det hette Gigabyte GN-WPEAG när jag köpte mitt.
Det kortet fungerar både med ath5k och madwifi.
Vad händer om du försöker få igång kortet efter uppstart?

Ah, såpass.. Det verkar finnas ett gäng kort med det pci id:t om man kollar här: http://pciids.sourceforge.net/v2.2/pci.ids

Om jag försöker ladda det ner datorn är startad, så hoppar markören ner en rad och datorn stannar, direkt. Börjar fundera på om det bästa kanske vore att testa det nya kortet jag köpte med ndiswrapper istället, för det här verkar ju ganska dödfött..

Det fungerade i brorsans dator (winxp) några minuter innan det kom i den här, men live-cd är ju värt att testa för man tar fram skruvmejseln igen =).

Har testat med Slax + compat-wireless-modulen nu, och det gav precis samma resultat som innan... Känns som läge att byta kort, tyvärr..

Vet inte lite motsägande men, undrar vad blev resultatet med ndiswrapper?

Kortet fungerar i servern (med Slack 11.0 förvisso) med madwifi, så det ska nog vara ok. Det blev samma resultat med ndiswrapper: att markören hoppar ner en rad och sedan stannar datorn, därför tror jag att problemet ligger på en lägre nivå än mjukvaran, kanske pci-porten eller nå'n konflikt.. Ska testa modprobe i den ordningen när jag ska stänga av datorn ikväll. Annars får det bli att byta kort och se om det fungerar bättre.

Så. nu har datorn precis varit iväg och fått ett nytt nätaggregat, passade på att byta nätverkskort innan jag kopplade in datorn igen, så nu fungerar den med ett Netgear WG311v3 och Ndiswrapper..
